Questions Linger About Turkey’s Implementation of Proposed Religious Freedom Activities

(International Christian Concern) International Christian Concern (ICC) has learned that on March 2, 2021, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan unveiled Turkey’s Human Rights Action Plan with the expectation that it will be executed within the next two years. The President stated that
“the ultimate aim of Turkey’s action plan is a new civilian constitution.” The President’s announcement of the plan included references to some issues impacting religious freedom but were not explained further.

Urgent funding needed to provide protection and health services to millions of women in Yemen

NEW YORK, USA – More than 100,000 women could die from complications of pregnancy and childbirth in Yemen, the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, due to severe funding shortages and the possible closure of reproductive health facilities. The situation is compounded by rising risks posed by COVID-19 and a looming famine. To save lives, UNFPA is calling for urgent funding of $100 million to provide reproductive healthcare and women’s protection services until the end of 2021.
“If lifesaving reproductive health and protection services stop, it will be catastrophic for women and girls in Yemen – placing them at even greater risk,” said Dr. Natalia Kanem, UNFPA Executive Director. “Funding is urgently needed to save lives and to keep facilities open to protect the health, safety and dignity of women and adolescent girls.” ....

NSA Trilateral Secretariat established at NHQ

Reaffirmed strongly with the necessity of the continuation of National Security Adviser (NSA)-level meeting between India, Sri Lanka and Maldives, a secretariat for trilateral National Security Advisers on Maritime Security Cooperation was formed under the auspices of Secretary of Defence, General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne at the Navy Headquarters today (01st March 2021).
Based on an agreement reached at the 04th NSA -level trilateral meeting hosted in Colombo on 28th November 2020 with the attendance of defence chiefs of three participating countries, it was decided to establish a secretariat for the convenience of future conclaves.
Through NSA -level meetings, it is expected to pay concerns into the current maritime security environment in the region and discussed mutual cooperation in the areas of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, joint exercises and capacity building.
