Navy and Army mark 120 years of service

TODAY the Royal Australian Navy and the Australian Army mark 120 years of service to the country, with personnel and veterans around the country commemorating all they have achieved.
Minister for Defence Personnel Darren Chester congratulated the two Services on this significant milestone and acknowledged the almost two million Australians who had served throughout history, many of who were in the Navy or Army.
“Since 1901, the men and women of the Navy and Army have served with distinction, through war and peace, and more recently as part of major domestic operations,” Mr Chester said.
“In the past year, Navy and Army have faced new and unexpected challenges as part of the Australian Government’s responses to bushfires, a global pandemic and other humanitarian and disaster relief operations. ....

Yemen 'cannot even afford to worry about coronavirus'

In Yemen, whose people are living through a long-running, brutal war, which has led to the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, COVID-19 is far from being a top priority, says the top UN refugee agency (UNHCR) official in the Arabian Peninsula country.
Famine, conflict and widespread poverty mean that Yemen is one of the toughest countries in the world in which to live, both for internally displaced people and refugees who have arrived from countries like Somalia.

Alleged Kidnapper of Missing Malaysian Pastor Acquitted
02/27/2021 Malaysia (International Christian Concern) – A former Uber driver who was accused of abducting Malaysian pastor Raymond Koh, has been acquitted of the charge on February 8 and was freed by the Magistrate’s Court today.
Lam Chang Nam, 31, now only has one other charge against him: he allegedly blackmailed Koh’s son, Jonathan, for RM30,000 in 2017. A decision on this will be delivered by the Petaling Jaya Magistrate’s Court on April 30.
According to Free Malaysia Today, Lam’s lawyer, Aaron Mark Pius, said,
“The prosecution told the court they do not wish to proceed with the Section 365 [kidnapping] charge, although they have already called nine witnesses.” ....
