Australian, United States and Japan conclude Exercise Cope North 21

Forces from Australia, the United States and Japan have successfully completed the annual trilateral Exercise Cope North.
The exercise was held at the United States’ Andersen Air Force Base in Guam from 3 to 19 February 2021.
Commander of the Australian Task Group, Group Captain Nathan Christie said Exercise Cope North demonstrates our shared commitment and vision for a secure and stable Indo-Pacific region.
“This exercise is an important opportunity for our three nations, individually and collectively, to develop our capability to deliver air and space power as part of a combined and interoperable force,” Group Captain Christie said.
“Equally, as the world continues to grapple with the effects of COVID-19 and a range of natural disasters, exercises such as Cope North enhance our collective humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness. ....

UN Human Rights Council Special Rapporteurs Publish Letter Denouncing Algerian Closures of Protestant Churches
02/19/2021 Geneva (International Christian Concern) – A letter sent to the Algerian government in December 2020 by three UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) rapporteurs has been made public. The 7-page document was sent to the president of Algeria, requesting “detailed information” about the closing of Protestant worship places around the country. The letter summarizes some of the latest developments in human rights breaches in Algeria, especially those related to the closing of worship places and churches affiliated with the Eglise Protestante d’Algérie (EPA) and actions of discrimination against the Protestant Christian minority within the country. In a joint statement along with the EPA and Christian organization Middle East Concern, the World Evangelical Alliance has denounced the forcible closing of Protestant churches by the Algerian government. ....

02/19/2021 Azerbaijan (International Christian Concern) – A group of Armenian pilgrims heading towards the Armenian monastery in Dadivank were originally blocked and have since been allowed to enter. The monastery came under Azerbaijan’s control following the 44-day war.
On February 7 a group of Armenian Christians were seeking to visit the monastery and were accompanied by Russian peacekeepers. Previously, only the number of pilgrims had to be reported in advance of their trip, and that no more than 30 could visit at a time. However, on February 7 the group was met with new restrictions and told to wait in a nearby village. When they attempted to return, they were again turned away and told that the names of the visitors must be provided in advance. On February 14 the Christians were finally able to visit Dadivank. ....
