Red Cross announces new CEO

Australian Red Cross is pleased to announce the appointment of Kym Pfitzner as the organisation’s chief executive officer.
The appointment, effective immediately, comes after Mr Pfitzner was seconded as Interim CEO in September 2020, from his role on the Board of Australian Red Cross.
Mr Pfitzner has previously been CEO, CFO and COO for global advertising holding companies, most recently Dentsu Aegis Network. He has extensive corporate development experience, having headed up the acquisition of more than 200 businesses.
Australian Red Cross President, Ross Pinney, said the appointment came after input from an international search firm.
“Kym has tremendous experience at the top levels of leadership in large, complex, people-focused organisations,” said Mr Pinney. ....

01/20/2021 Indonesia (International Christian Concern) – The daughter of an Indonesian couple, who both died in their suicide attack against a Catholic church in southern Philippines, told an Indonesian official that she was compelled by her parents to join the Islamic State group.
According to Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, the region’s top military commander, on January 13, the young woman, who was arrested in the southern Philippines on suspicion of preparing for a suicide bombing mission, met with Indonesian Consul-General Dicky Fabrian.
Benar News reports that Fabrian wanted to meet with Rullie to make sure that “she is really an Indonesian” by seeing her in person. The meeting took place at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group detention facility in southern Zamboanga city, where she is being held. ....

Nosiba is one of 22,500 Rohingya refugees who live in the Nayapara Registered Refugee Camp in Cox’s Bazar, which is run by UNHCR. She and her family have been living here since the 1990s when one of the first groups of Rohingya fled violence in Myanmar and sought safety in neighbouring Bangladesh. ....
