Owners reveal when drive-through bakery will open

The newest Fairbairn Bakery store, which includes the business’ first drive-through, is expected to open at Emerald by the end of May.
Owners Kelly and Chris Bunyoung said it had been an exciting journey through uncharted waters.
“The drive-through has been a challenge and it’s been exciting,” Mrs Bunyoung said.
“This is a very new venture for us, we’ve had no template or anything to go off.
“We’ve had to design it and plan how we can function a bakery at a higher turn-around point to meet demand on a drive-through.”
The new store will replace the previous Hospital Road location. ....

Central Highlands’ social entrepreneurs have shared progress on their innovative initiatives, in CQUniversity’s latest sessions for the Central Highlands Social Enterprise Project.
The project, presented in the partnership with Central Highlands Community Services, has included a series of workshops at the CQ University Emerald campus, and work to map the region’s social innovation ecosystem.
On April 27, CQ University Emerald hosted the vision and showcase sessions for the project, with a range of local participants. ....

Pure passion and love for the industry has pushed Kelly and Chris Bunyoung to delve headfirst into what has become a thriving family business.
Fairbairn Bakery on Emeraldâs Clermont Street was established in 1983 and purchased by Mr Bunyoung in 2008.
Since then, the couple opened a second store in Emerald, a store in Cannonvale, Blackwater and have taken over the coffee nook at the Emerald Medical Group super clinic.
Mr and Mrs Bunyoung are preparing to open the fifth Fairbairn Bakery and first drive thru in an effort to leave their footprint on Central Queensland and surrounds. ....

CQ welcomes 37 new medical interns

Thirty-seven new medical interns have arrived in Central Queensland clinics, including Gladstone and Rockhampton, in order to relieve overworked staff.
CQ Health welcomed the interns last week with the graduates primed and ready to start their careers in the region.
The new doctors did a week of intensive orientation at Rockhampton Hospital before setting
off to join clinical teams across the region.
Interns will do rotations across Rockhampton, Gladstone and Capricorn Coast hospitals, as well as general practice rotations at Emerald Medical Group and Theodore Medical Centre.
Three others will join the team later in the year, bringing the total number of 2021 interns to ....
