New community-based vaccine centre set to open in Mackay

Mackay residents will have greater access to the COVID-19 vaccine from this week with the opening of a new community-based vaccination centre.
The new centre will be located at the 500 Pavilion at Mackay Showgrounds, and will open to a small number of existing bookings on Friday, 30 July 2021, before gradually ramping up capacity. Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Yvette D’Ath said the new centre was part of the Queensland Government’s strategy to ensure access to vaccinations across regional Queensland.
“As more Queenslanders come forward for vaccination, the Palaszczuk Government continues to work on growing its network of COVID-19 vaccination locations across the state,” she said. ....

Check In Qld app deadline looms for local businesses

To help keep Queenslanders COVID safe, businesses across the state are being urged to register for the Check In Qld app, which becomes mandatory from Friday 9 July at 1am.
Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Yvette D’Ath said since the announcement was made as part of Queensland’s Economic Recovery Plan Roadmap to more eased restrictions more than two weeks ago, an additional 77,000 businesses had already signed up for the public safety device and there had been more than 32 million check ins via the Check In Qld app. That brings the total business applications to more than 128,000 and total check-ins using the app to more than 97 million. ....

Kidney transplant services to expand into state's north

Queenslanders living in the state’s north will soon have access to lifesaving kidney transplant services closer to home with the expansion of the Statewide Kidney Transplant Service.
Treasurer and Minister for Investment Cameron Dick said COVID-19 had clearly demonstrated how protecting the health of Queenslanders was a integral part of the wellbeing of the state’s economy.
“The Palaszczuk Government has always and will continue to put the health of Queenslanders first,” the Treasurer said.
“That is what Labor Governments do. Our government continues to make record investments in health services for Queenslanders.
