Murder charges dismissed against Jones | News, Sports, Jobs

One of the men who had been charged in a June 2020 double-homicide in Fort Dodge saw his murder charges dismissed on Monday.
Darrell L. Jones, 23, of Fort Dodge, was facing two counts of second-degree murder (a Class B felony) and one count of felon in possession of a firearm (a Class D felony) after a deadly shooting in the Pleasant Valley neighborhood on June 16, 2020.
Two Fort Dodge men, 25-year-old Jamael Cox and 47-year-old Tyrone Cunningham, were killed in a volley of bullets in the early morning hours of June 16. Two others were injured but survived: Marissa Andrews of Fort Dodge, 21, and Jayne Barton of Wesley, 30. ....

The investigation into the June 16, 2020, double homicide in Pleasant Valley resulted in an additional arrest on Thursday.
According to the Fort Dodge Police Department, 18-year-old Isiah C. Mosley, of Fort Dodge, was arrested and charged with second-degree kidnapping, a Class B felony, and felon in possession of a firearm, a Class D felony.
Police say that when the shooting in the 900 block of 10th Avenue Southwest started on June 16, an unnamed male bystander was attempting to flee in his vehicle when Mosley jumped onto the hood of the car, holding the bystander at gunpoint and demanding he drive Mosley out of the area. After traveling a short distance, Mosley got off the car and fled on foot. ....

One Fort Dodge defendant charged in the June 16 double homicide in Pleasant Valley is entitled to $5,560 for being held as a material witness nearly five months, a judge ruled Tuesday.
District Court Judge Angela Doyle ruled in favor of Darrell Jones, 23, after he filed a motion arguing for the payment. Jones is one of five defendants charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the killing of Jamael Cox, 25, and Tyrone Cunningham, 47.
