Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Monday issued a controversial order, making it mandatory for people above 45 years of age to get vaccinated against COVID-19 for availing ration at government-run stores.
The order, which evoked mixed reactions from Kashmiri netizens, was issued by the assistant director, food, civil supplies and consumer affairs of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district. ....

Srinagar, Apr 5: With large gatherings witnessed at Tulip and other various gardens in Kashmir, the health experts today expressed their concerns over the non-adherence and complacency on the part of the Government as well as the public about COVID-19 SOPs as the second wave of the pandemic raged in J&K.
They said that while the admissions in the hospitals have increased amid a daily surge in the cases, there is a need for the public to adhere to the SOPs and there is no option for the laidback attitude which galore on the streets and other gatherings on daily basis. ....

It was  July 2, 2020, and as the light of dawn seeped into his room, Dr Mir Mushtaq rubbed his bleary eyes and got up. He felt a slight body ache and mild fever, which he initially thought of as a normal illness. But when the symptoms continued to worsen even after taking the requisite medication, Dr Mir rushed for a chest X-ray, and the findings revealed some complications. He then immediately got his RT-PCR, a real-time test done and expectedly tested positive for Covid-19, a viral infection that has killed almost 1.5 million people across the world. ....
