ZURICH (Reuters) -Regeneron is pursuing U.S. approval for its COVID-19 monoclonal antibody cocktail as a preventative treatment after it helped cut the risk of symptomatic infections in households where someone else is ill, the U.S. drugmaker said on Monday.

PARIS (Reuters) -Valneva on Tuesday reported positive results for its COVID-19 vaccine in early stage clinical trials and said it planned to launch a Phase Three trial this month.

EU drug regulator investigating 62 reports of rare clotting worldwide: chief

LONDON (Reuters) - Europe’s drug regulator is investigating 62 cases worldwide of a rare blood clotting condition which has prompted some countries to limit the use of AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine, its chief Emer Cooke said in a briefing on Wednesday.
That includes 44 cases in the European Economic Area out of a total of 9.2 million people who have received the vaccine in the region, she said.
The total cited by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) does not include all the cases of the condition, known as cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST), which have been reported in Germany, she said. ....

BEIJING (Reuters) - China’s CanSino Biologics Inc said the efficacy rate for its single-dose COVID-19 vaccine may fall over time although it should still have a rate of 50% or more five to six months after inoculation.
A second shot given to trial participants six months after their first injection could offer substantial protection, Zhu Tao, CanSinoBIO’s chief scientific officer, said in an online presentation late on Wednesday. ....

EU countries agree to share 'solidarity vaccines' with states in need

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Most European Union member states on Thursday agreed to share part of their upcoming vaccine deliveries with the five EU countries they said need them most.
