COVID keeps Mary Baldwin virtual through Wednesday
STAUNTON — Classes will remain all virtual through Wednesday at Mary Baldwin University.
In an email sent to the school community Monday, the Pandemic Team confirmed that 52 total new cases of COVID-19 were identified on the Staunton campus last week. That's 54.7% of the total cases confirmed since June 15, per the school's COVID dashboard.
The email said another 61 students have been identified as close contacts and are currently in quarantine.
Through contact tracing it was determined that the surge in cases did not occur from classroom exposure, per the email.
"These cases stemmed from students traveling off campus and bringing COVID back to their friends at MBU," read the email.
