A senior official of Malaysian Gas Association (MGA) highlighted the role of natural gas in driving socio-economic growth in Malaysia in webinar held by Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).
Speaking at the the 52nd edition of the GECF Gas Lecture Series, entitled ‘Collaborative Government-Association Synergy for a Sustainable and Vibrant Gas Industry’, Hazli Sham Kassim, the President of Malaysian Gas Association (MGA) discussed the role MGA is playing in shaping national policies, natural gas roadmap that Malaysia has been championing since 2018 to future proof industry and also shed light on future opportunities for gas in Malaysia. ....

The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), the global platform of the leading gas producing nations, will be hosting the next in its signature GECF Gas Lecture Series tomorrow at 1100 am Doha time.
Featuring Hazli Sham Kassim, President of Malaysian Gas Association (MGA), the lecture is entitled “Collaborative Government-Association Synergy for a Sustainable and Vibrant Gas Industry” and will be the 52nd lecture of the series and the fourth lecture for this year.
Hazli will be sharing with the GECF his expertise about the role of collaboration and cooperation between governments and gas associations in achieving a sustainable gas industry. ....

Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian gas market is expected to be fully liberalised in 2022, when the remaining regulated gas tariff ends on Dec 31, 2021, said Malaysian Gas Association (MGA) president Hazli Sham Kassim.
He said that in transition towards a fully liberalised gas market, it is imperative that all parties, including policymakers, regulators, industry players and customers, understand the liquefied natural gas (LNG) market and its dynamics, including the different factors influencing pricing and contracts.
Besides, it is also imperative for market players to understand the policymakers’ perspective and aspirations on the gas market. “Representing the entire value chain of the natural gas industry, MGA plays an influential role as the lead advocate in promoting a sustainable future for the Malaysian gas industry. ....

Local manufacturers enjoy low gas prices, but not for long

THE current high gas price in the spot market means that Malaysian manufacturers that pay a regulated price set by the Energy Commission (EC) are now enjoying a much lower gas price than their international counterparts.
However, the current high gas price level is not expected to be sustained for long, as the extremely cold weather in the northern hemisphere has started to subside, which means less gas will be needed for heating. Lower demand for heating will translate into higher stockpile among northern countries.
According to S&P Global Platts, the futures price for LNG Japan/Korea Marker (JKM) for March 2021 delivery has been increasing since Nov 19, 2020, when it was trading at US$5.815 per million British thermal unit, to US$19.695 per mmBtu on Jan 11. ....
