Ecobank Supports National Malaria Control Programme To Fight Malaria In Africa


 
The Managing Director of Ecobank Ghana, Mr Daniel Sackey at the official press briefing of the 2021 World Malaria Day held on April 28, 2021, at the Ecobank Head Office auditorium under the theme “Zero Malaria, Draw the line against Malaria” said that it is an opportunity to evaluate the progress made so far.
According to him, Ecobank being a financial institution that is keen on impacting positively the health of people living in the communities it operates has partnered with the National Malaria Control Programme as it leads the fight towards the elimination of this endemic disease.
Addressing the stakeholders at the press briefing, Mr Sackey said that World Malaria Day affords the stakeholders in the fight against malaria the opportunity to evaluate their progress and strengthen their resolve in the fight against the disease that remains the highest cause of morbidity in Ghana. ....

Invest in fight against malaria to fill funding gap AMMREN urges African govts

The African Media and Malaria Research Network (AMMREN), a Pan-African advocacy group of journalists and scientists, has called on governments of malaria endemic countries to invest in the fight against malaria to fill the funding gap.
According to the group, unless countries found innovative ways to mobilise adequate resources to bridge the funding gap, malaria resurgence would likely take more lives in Africa.
This was contained in a statement signed and issued by Dr Charity Binka, Executive Secretary of AMMREN, in Accra yesterday on the occasion of this year’s World Malaria Day. ....

Malaria More Fearful Than Witches - Apostle Onyinah


 
The 2021 World Malaria Day (WMD) has been observed in Accra with a call on the public to fear malaria more than witches.
Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah, Chairman, National Cathedral Board of Trustees, who made the call, said malaria was a deadly disease and that the public must do anything possible to protect themselves from mosquito bites.
He was speaking at a brief event held by the National Malaria Control Programme to mark the WMD at the Odorkor Pentecost International Worship Center on Sunday.
Apostle Prof. Onyinah said preventing malaria demanded that every individual slept under Insecticide Treated Nets (ITNs) and ensured that they kept their environment clean. ....
