Mayor Joe Pitts announced Monday that Billy Lee has been named Fleet Manager for the City of Clarksville.
Lee served as Interim Fleet Manager and Garage Manager while a search for a new department head was conducted. His appointment is effective May 17.
“Billy has served our City faithfully over the past year as Interim Fleet Manager, and also juggled the Garage Manager position at the same time,” Mayor Pitts said. “He has handled both responsibilities very well. His steady hand and quiet yet affirming demeanor has made a difference. We welcome him to our City leadership team with confidence and enthusiasm.” ....

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – As Clarksville Now embarks on its 11th year covering local news, the reporting team has grown to include seven journalists: The editor, three news reporters, a marketing specialist, a news clerk/video journalist and a sports reporter.
Here’s an introduction to each member of the team and what they do to serve our readers.
Chris Smith, Clarksville Now Editor-in-Chief
Chris Smith is the editor-in-chief of Clarksville Now and joined the team in July 2020.
Smith is originally from Athens, Alabama, and spent half of his childhood in Haddon Township, New Jersey. He began his journalism career after getting his master’s degree in English at Auburn University. ....

Ramp Up Clarksville to start first project this weekend

CLARKSVILLE, TN – Ramp Up Clarksville, a new mission outreach in Clarksville, will start their first project on Saturday, April 24. Ramp Up Clarksville was started by two Tennova Healthcare social workers who saw the need for handicap ramps for the elderly and disabled in our community.
Montgomery Central High School, The Bridge, Awaken Church, and Salem Community Church will be building four ramps, and the supplies are being provided through a grant with United Cerebral Palsy of Middle Tennessee. There is a need for more hands-on care for our aging population in Clarksville. The hope for Ramp Up Clarksville is that Saturday will be just the beginning. ....
