USG Senate passes Kosher dining resolution, confirms Speaker of the Senate

April 14, 2021 in Featured, News The 141st Undergraduate Student Government Senate convened for the second time under the newly-established Areias-Warren administration at Tuesday’s meeting and passed its first resolution on Kosher dining.  Vice President Lucy Warren introduced the resolution, which was first presented last week by Benjamin Shiff, president of Chabad @ USC. The resolution focuses on establishing a University-recognized Kosher   the term used to describe foods that meet the dietary needs of the Jewish community restaurant.  According to the resolution, USC originally began a Kosher food preparation program in Spring 2018, where students picked up pre-packaged Kosher food at the University Village. However, the program proved unviable due to finances, the lack of attention over its existence and its inability to correspond with students’ schedules. 

Student Government passes dining services, scholarship resolutions in final meeting of semester

  Star file photo Texas State s Student Government Senate held its final meeting of the spring session on April 6, ushering out the current executive administration. In the last Senate meeting for both Student Body President Catching Valentinis-Dee and Student Body Vice President Andrew Florence, two resolutions passed unanimously. Both Valentinis-Dee and Florence spoke on the accomplishments and difficulties their administration faced, the former focusing on the sudden change brought on by COVID-19. Sen. Andrew Gryce and Senate Leader Quintin Lorenz succeed the current president and vice president, respectively, on April 19. Florence’s farewell address is available on the Student Government Twitter. 

USG Senate introduces final series of resolutions

April 1, 2021 in News, Sticky The nominations for the 2021-22 executive board were also announced by Alexis Arieas, and will be voted on by the Senate at next weekʻs meeting. (Nayeon Ryu | Daily Trojan) The 140th Undergraduate Student Government Senate introduced their final series of resolutions at the meeting Tuesday.  The resolutions will be voted on next week, in addition to the inauguration of the incoming members of the Areias-Warren administration. President Gabriel Savage thanked everyone for their commitment and ability to face challenges in the Annual Presidential Report given at the end of each administration.  “We got a whole lot of work done this year but the work of a good student government is never finished,” Savage said. “We learned about ourselves a lot as an organization: the good, the bad and the ugly, but we still have a lot more to learn.
