Tararua community groups will benefit by more than $10,000 in grants from the Dannevirke Community Board.
A report to Tuesday s meeting of the board said it had received 10 applications to its general assistance grants scheme seeking $25,256.21 in funding.
Tararua District Council democracy services manager Richard Taylor said the board had $14,129.09 at its disposal to last until its next funding allocation in July.
The biggest grant approved was $2500 to the Rua Roa Community Hall Society to replace the hall ceiling. The society had requested funding of $4950.75. ....

Te Hiku Community Board has awarded grants of almost $50,000 in support of heritage, sport and conservation fundraising projects in Te Hiku Ward, including a $20,000 contribution towards the ongoing restoration of St Clement s Anglican Māori Church (Te Whare Tapu o Keremeneta) at Ahipara.
Time and the elements have taken their toll on the almost 150 years old church, which is now in a state of disrepair. Restoration committee chairman John Paitai says the aim is to restore it to its original 19th century appearance, and so provide the community with a revived venue and focus point for local faith, history and events. ....

NCCISMA receives $150,000 in grants for invasive species work


The North Country Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area has been awarded two new grants to continue its work to stop the spread of invasive species in Northern Michigan.
A grant for $50,000 of Great Lakes Restoration Initiative funding, awarded by the U.S. Forest Service, will be held by the Mason-Lake Conservation District.
The USFS Grant, titled Parks as Showplaces for Control and Restoration, will allow NCCISMA to continue the work that they have been doing over the past several years, to remove invasive plants from area public parks and replace them with native species. Parks that have been the subject of previous work by NCCISMA include Lake City Parks, Big Rapids Parks and Mecosta County Parks. At Paris Park, in Mecosta County, interpretive signage has been installed to highlight the work done there by NCCISMA. ....

LA County Offers Grants to Nail Salons, Other Small Businesses – NBC Los Angeles


Eligible businesses include hair and beauty salons, nail salons, estheticians, skin care, barber shops, dry cleaners, bakeries and automotive stores. They must have an open storefront in L.A. County, excluding the city of Los Angeles, make less than $1 million in revenue per year, and must show proof of financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The county chose the personal care and retail sector for the grants because those businesses were among the most impacted by the pandemic, as restrictions forced closures for much of 2020, officials said.
Business owners can apply for the grant here. Applications are open through April 11, and April 26 through May 2. ....
