A CHARITABLE foundation has been able to award thousands of pounds to community groups across the county in a bid to support environmental projects. The Dorset Community Foundation, thanks to its partnership with Wessex Water, was able to grant more than £16,000 to grass roots groups across the county for projects aimed at improving the environment in their communities. The Wessex Water Environment Fund was launched with the community foundation by The Wessex Water Foundation, a multi-million-pound initiative, launched in June 2020, which provides a dedicated funding stream for projects across the region. Many local grass roots groups across Dorset have been hit hard by the pandemic and were excited to receive the extra funding. ....
THOUSANDS of pounds have been awarded to groups in Dorset – including Bridport Boxing Club – which encourage and inspire young people through sport. Dorset Community Foundation teamed up with Made By Sport, a national charity which raises awareness of the power of playing and competing in sport, to distribute more than £32,000 in grants to clubs and groups working with young people to develop life skills, improve job prospects or reduce anti-social behaviour and crime. Many local clubs across the county have been hit hard by the pandemic and were excited to receive the extra funding. The 40-year-old, who earlier this year opened a gallery in his home town of Bournemouth, set up the Designs For Humanity Fund two years ago, using profits from the sales of thousands of special edition Christmas art tins through his Culture Hussle website. At Christmas, the fund donated £20,000 to provide 352 Christmas hampers, toy vouchers and other goodies to 352 families through Christchurch, Poole and Wimborne foodbanks as well as Citygate Church in Bournemouth. ....
