Supreme Court holds full court reference on retirement of Justice Malik National May 1, 2021 ISLAMABAD: A Full Court Reference was held here on Friday in the Supreme Court on the eve of retirement of Justice Manzoor Ahmed Malik, Judge of the Supreme Court. The reference was attended by all the judges of the Supreme Court, Attorney General for Pakistan, President Supreme Court Bar Association and large number of lawyers. Addressing the Full Court Reference, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed while paying rich tributes said that tireless contributions of Justice Manzoor Ahmed Malik to the cause of justice and especially to the criminal jurisprudence has forged the path for generations of legal practitioners to come to be inspired by and motivated. ....
NAB summons Pervez Malik in sugar subsidy scam Top Story April 30, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau Rawalpindi has paced up investigations into a sugar subsidy scam and summoned PML-N leader and ex-commerce minister Pervez Malik today (Friday). According to sources, the Combined Investigation Team of the NAB Rawalpindi has asked Pervez Malik to bring the record with regard to subsidy of sugar. The sources said the CIT has directed Pervez Malik to bring the record of ECC meetings and fixing of the prices of sugar. The NAB Rawalpindi has already summoned Provincial Minister Moshin Leghari on May 4 and asked him to bring the record of sugar subsidy from the year 2018 and 2019. The sources said the CIT has directed Leghari to bring the record of sugar export permission. ....
Malik asks WHO to provide corona vaccines to IIOJ&K National April 29, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Former interior minister Abdul Rehman Malik appealed to the World Health Organisation (WHO) to immediately dispatch COVID vaccines to helpless Kashmiris under the already existing special facility the COVAX. Chairman World International Human Rights Commission Dr Shahid Amin Khan met Rehman Malik on Tuesday in Islamabad and discussed the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJ&K). Both strongly condemned the ongoing Indian forces brutalities and curfew in Indian occupied Kashmir and urged the international community to break its silence on the plight of oppressed people of Kashmir. ....
National April 26, 2021 ISLAMABAD: PPP senior leader ex-senator Rehman Malik has called for an emergency summit of leaders of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc) for devising a common strategy for tackling the deadly COVID-19. “Undoubtedly COVID-19 is getting its dangerous grip in South Asia and the third wave is likely to hit all countries of Saarc,” he said while talking to The News Sunday. Malik urged that Saarc should immediately meet and create a COVID-19 fund, common medical staff and a pool with all logistics to help each other. He said Prime Minister Imran Khan should take the initiative and make a formal proposal to convene a Saarc conference on urgent basis. “I see a great potential to save people from COVID-19 of this region with collective efforts and common strategy,” he added. He urged all the member countries to keep their egos aside and come forward for saving lives of innocent and helpless people. ....
BATHINDA: Over a month after backing the ongoing farmer protest and asking PM Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah not to offend the farmers, Meghalaya governor Satya Pal Malik has reiterated his support for the farmers’ protest and condemned the central government’s attitude towards them. Malik, in a letter to Haryana’s Charkhi Dadri MLA Sombir Sangwan, who is also head of Sangwan Khap, has said that 300 farmers have died during the protests, but the central government has “neither condoled their deaths”, nor felt the need to resume talks, but is “defaming the protest”. Lauding the farmers for their tough fight, he has urged them to maintain unity. He has also assured that he will try to do whatever the khap expects of him. ....
