With less than three weeks before the eight international teams meet on the water in Bermuda for the league s return to racing, SailGP today launched the 2021 eSailGP Championship.
Building on the success of the inaugural season, which saw more than 146,000 unique players take part across 55,783 individual races, fans will have a chance to test their skills piloting one of the most innovative race boats in the world in a virtual environment on new courses and with new-look boats. Nick Egnot-Johnson and his KNOTS Racing crew of Niall Malone, Alastair Gifford and Ollie Gilmour survived a tricky sudden-death final day to win the 2021 Harken Youth International Match Racing Cup.
Going back to the Round Robin stage, the top seeding came down to a battle between the eventual finalists, with Nick Egnot-Johnson and Jordan Stevenson racing off in the final match. As is always the case with these two the race was a tight one, but it was Egnot-Johnson who claimed a narrow victory. Both finished with an eight-one record, but Egnot-Johnson snatched the top spot on countback with that vital final race win. ....

Three sets of world champions were crowned in the 470 Men s, Women s and Mixed events in Vilamoura, Portugal.
Anton Dahlberg & Fredrik Bergström (SWE) took gold in the Men s 470, Silvia Mas & Patricia Cantero (ESP) won in dramatic circumstances in the Women s 470, and Gil Cohen & Noam Homri (ISR) beat their compatriots to the first ever Mixed world title.
The Swedes managed to recover after a bad start to the Medal Race. They finished in third place but it was enough to give them their first ever world title, which must have tasted even sweeter after coming so close in previous years (third in 2019, fourth in 2018 and second in 2017). ....
