SAN ANGELO, TX – Late Wednesday afternoon a Tom Green County jury began deliberating guilt or innocence in the case against Mack A. Porter Jr., a man accused of sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child.
The alleged incident occurred back in May of 2019 when the victim was a fifth-grader at a San Angelo ISD elementary school. (The child will be referred to as Sandy in this article to protect her identity.)
According to the desperate 9-1-1 call Sandy made that day and her subsequent interview at the Hope House, the assault occurred on a Thursday afternoon after she came home from school. ....

SAN ANGELO, TX – The woman accused of killing her baby in Feb 2019 is attempting to get her case thrown out due to racial prejudices, confirms court documents. 
On Apr. 8, defense attorney Jenny Henley submitted a motion to dismiss the case to judge Brad Goodwin. 
The 22 page document alleged that the case needed to be thrown out due to prejudice and ethnic discrimination in prosecution.  
Lesley Moreno is accused of playing a role in the death of her baby, Nathaniel. Nathaniel died due to blunt force trauma. Moreno s husband Andrew Fernandez is also charged with capital murder. Both of them are facing the death penalty.  ....

San Angelo man charged in double murder moves to delay trial


51st District Attorney Allison Palmer refuted Cowie s argument, stating the defense s motion is speculative. 
There s no authorization for the preclusion unless rights are actually violated, Palmer said. 
Ray Keith, chief public defender with the Regional Public Defenders Office, explained that he decided the RPDO employees could not do field work since Nov. 1, 2020 due to safety concerns over COVID-19. Keith also mentioned interviewing witnesses over the phone or videoconferences is not the best practice, he said.

RPDO trial teams generally go to a witness in person without scheduling a time. The in-person meetings help teams build relationships and learn things they would not have learned otherwise, Keith and Cowie stressed. ....
