MU Health Care Opens Walk-In Testing Clinics as COVID Cases Increase

As of Friday, July 16, 2021, Boone County had 614 active cases of COVID-19. In response, MU Health Care began offering walk-in clinics today for those who need COVID-19 tests.
“My advice is to continue to wear a mask, social distance, and wash your hands frequently.”

The new walk-in testing clinics are for those who need a test prior to travel, have a known exposure, are asymptomatic OR have very mild symptoms of COVID-19.
Mary Beck, the chief nursing officer for MU Health Care, said the clinics are about making sure people have convenient and easy access to testing – as community case numbers continue to climb. ....

MU Health Care COVID-19 drive-thru testing to close


COLUMBIA - Due to reduced demand for testing, MU Health Care will close its drive-thru COVID-19 testing site at the end of day, Friday, March 12.
Boone Hospital Center and St. Mary s Hospital also announced the closure of their drive-thru testing sites due to decreased demand on Wednesday. 
All three sites final days of operation will be Friday, March 12.
Capital Region Medical Center s drive-thru testing closed in mid-February due to cold weather conditions. It was never reopened. 
SSM-Health - St. Mary s Hospital in Audrain County also closed in February due to sustained lower volumes and reduced community transmission of COVID-19. 
Testing numbers from the Mizzou North location have decreased from more than 3,000 per week in August to less than 700 in the first week of March, according to a press release. ....

The Columbia Public Schools 14-day case rate per 10,000 people is at 27.4. 
The updated CPS student tracker shows 208 students in the district currently in quarantine and 18 active cases.
To break the student cases down:
Elementary schools: 110 quarantined, 10 positive cases, 11 out of 21 schools affected.
Middle schools: 33 quarantined, 5 positive cases, 6 out of 7 schools affected.
High schools: 34 quarantined, 3 positive cases, 4 out of 4 schools affected. 
Other: 25 quarantined, 0 positive cases.
The district has seen 2,399 quarantined student cases and 575 positive student cases since June 2020. 
The updated CPS staff tracker also shows 26 staff members currently in quarantine and 5 active staff cases. 1 staff member is out due to EFMLA laws.  ....
