Popup vaccine clinic held at Middleton Outreach Ministry May 5, 2021 6:52 PM Site staff Updated: MIDDLETON, Wis. In partnership with Fitchburg Family Pharmacy, Middleton Outreach Ministry held a popup vaccine clinic Wednesday. “It’s really important that people come out to get vaccinated,” said Middleton Outreach Ministry Executive Director Ellen Carlson. “Our goal in this community is to provide safety and nourishment for people in our community, and having access to health care is equally part of that.” The goal was to make shots available at a convenient location, especially to help people without access to transportation. Anyone ages 16 and up could drop-in to the building off Parmenter Street to receive the Pfizer vaccine. ....

David Joseph Coakley Site staff He died in Madison, Wis., at the age of 82 on Feb. 27, 2021. Dave was born in Cascade, Iowa, on Jan. 24, 1939. He grew up on a farm in Iowa, the son of Helen and Dan Coakley. He lived in the Middleton/Madison area since 1968 where he worked for over 30 years helping others as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. Dave married Mary Jane Schuetz in Chicago, Ill., on Sept. 4, 1965. They were married for over 55 years. He always said how lucky he was to have Mary Jane by his side. In addition to being a devoted husband, he was a beloved father to his four daughters and a doting grandfather to his three grandsons. ....
Ruth Hodgson Site Contributor Ruth H. Hodgson enjoyed 100 years of family, friendships, travel, music, theater, reading, good food and good wine before her death on January 29, 2021. She grew up on a farm in Iowa with sisters, Vivian and MaryAlice, the daughters of Gail and Gazelle Hinton. Ruth met Harlow J. Hodgson at a local dance and married him prior to his enlistment in the Coast Guard in 1941. Her delight in travel began as she joined him on his WWII postings and continued during his employment as an agronomist for USDA in Palmer, Alaska and Washington, DC. Ruth had many wonderful talents and qualities. ....
Partnership between Madison food pantries, local farmers to continue through July The $5 million program is considered a win-win to keep families fed, farmers in business January 12, 2021 5:39 AM Christina Lorey Updated: MADISON, Wis.– Right now, thousands of local families are struggling with food insecurity entering month ten of the pandemic. Meanwhile, local farmers are struggling to sell their products, too. Last spring, leaders in Dane County came up with a way to help both farmers and families, and the promising partnership will continue through at least the end of July. The $5 million agreement extension between Dane County and the Second Harvest Food Bank allows the county to buy dairy, meat, and produce from Wisconsin farmers and use those locally-sourced products to stock county food pantries. ....
