I awakened to find that life was duty. Behold, I acted and duty was joy.   Tenenbaum s retirement is effective June 1. When asked what his plans are when he retires, Tenenbaum says he plans to get back to the gym and live in the mountains. The single item left on his bucket list, he says, is to also visit Normandy to pay his respects.

Local nonprofits benefit from Midlands Gives Day

ABC Columbia May 4, 2021 6:12 PM EDT COLUMBIA (WOLO): Tuesday, South Carolinians had the chance to find their inner philanthropists and give back to the more than 480 nonprofit organizations across the Midlands. Donations continue to roll in, as a record-breaking number of nonprofits participate in Midlands Gives Day. This year the fundraising event is entirely online.  Elizabeth Houck, Strategic Initiatives Associate, with the Central Carolina Community Foundations said, “there’s a great need for these nonprofits in order to keep the work that they’re doing and there are more nonprofits who are engaging and wanting to raise awareness about the important work that they’re doing.”

Midlands Gives says they raised $3,343,033 in donations through 21,080 gifts. Authorities say this is a new fundraising record. “The generosity of our community is inspiring! We are incredibly thankful for the thousands of everyday philanthropists that came together to support our supporters,” says JoAnn Turnquist, president and CEO of Central Carolina Community Foundation. “Our region showcased immense resiliency and pride during Midlands Gives Day, despite the pandemic’s continued presence and devastating impact. Thank you to our donors, corporate partners and nonprofits for creating hope and setting new milestones for giving.”

The online fundraiser helps support over 450 non-profit groups across the Midlands. Due to the Coronavirus, many organizations are in greater need of your help, say organizers. According to organizers, the Tuesday, May 4 from 6 a.m. – 11:59 p.m. Gifts made during Midlands Gives will help nonprofits continue to provide critical services in health, arts and culture, human services and more. The annual Midlands Gives campaign is running through midnight May 4, 2021 10:10 AM EDT   COLUMBIA SC (WOLO)–Today marks the Midland’s biggest gifting day of the year, a day appropriately named Midlands Gives! Midlands Gives began in 2014, and over the last eight years, has raised over $12.6 million for non-profits in the eleven Midlands counties, including  Calhoun, Clarendon, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lee, Lexington, Newberry, Orangeburg, Richland, Saluda and Sumter. The event kicked off at 6:00 AM Tuesday, and will continue through 11:59 PM, touting 18 hours of giving.  This year also represents the largest amount of non-profits involved with the day, with over 480 charities hoping for kind hearts and open wallets.
