On Wednesday, May 26, a second-generation Toyota Mirai set a new world record for distance driven with one fill of hydrogen. The journey started at a hydrogen station in Orly, a commune in the southern suburbs of Paris, and covered 1,003 kilometers on French public roads (or just over 623 miles for the Americans among you).
Four drivers took turns at the wheel, and the distance and fuel consumption was certified by an independent third party. The Mirai’s fuel tank can hold 5.6 kilograms of hydrogen, or about 37.5 gallons, meaning that in the end it used only 0.55 kg per 100 km. ....

We’ve already talked about the all-new, second-generation Toyota Mirai, but one key detail missing up until now was its range. The automaker had set its sights on 400 miles for “the wow factor,” yet hoping for it is one thing achieving it is another. It seems Toyota has made good on its intent: the new Toyota Mirai has a 402-mile range.
This puts the Mirai at the very top of the heap of long-range, zero-emissions vehicles. It’s one of only two current production vehicles that can claim to have a range of over 400 miles, the other being the 2020 Tesla Model S Long Range Plus, whose EPA-estimated range is identical to the Mirai’s. ....

2021 Toyota Mirai Starts At $49,500 And Offers Up To 402 Miles Of Range

Toyota has announced the 2021 Mirai will be priced from $49,500 in the United States.
While that’s nearly as much as the outgoing Lexus GS, Toyota noted it’s a savings of $9,050 compared to the 2020 Mirai.
Customers will also have the option of leasing the entry-level Mirai XLE for $499 a month. Regardless of which route they take, they’ll receive up to $15,000 worth of complimentary hydrogen fuel.
