Former MSU Star Keith Appling Arrested After Being Named Suspect in Fatal Shooting

Comments AP Photo/Elaine Thompson Former Michigan State basketball player Keith Appling was arrested Monday in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday in Detroit, according to Miriam Marini of the Detroit Free Press. The 29-year-old was arrested in Chelsea, Michigan, more than 50 miles from Detroit, and police said a firearm was recovered at the time of the arrest. Appling had initially been named a suspect by the Detroit Police Department, who allege the former basketball player had a verbal altercation with a 66-year-old man that became physical. The police allege Appling fired multiple gunshots before fleeing the scene.

Metro Detroit weather: Temperatures expected to reach 90 degrees

View Comments Things are taking a turn from pleasantly warm to uncomfortably hot this week in metro Detroit as temperatures climb to 90 degrees heading into the weekend. The beginning of the week will stay in the mid- to high 70s, with Monday s high predicted to be around 75 and Wednesday forecasted to reach 79, according to the National Weather Service in White Lake. However, come Thursday, and things are heating up. Thursday is the week s turning point, with its high set in the high 80s. The weather service predicts Thursday s high to be around 86 and Friday to hit the 90-degree mark. The weekend is set to stay in that range, maintaining temperatures in the high 80s and reaching 90 degrees.
