Of that money, $98,000 will go toward the construction of new pedestrian walkways and ADA-compliant spectator areas alongside its ballfields, contracted through Lindy Paving. The latter phases of the project, tabbed for completion in late summer, will add new bleachers and park benches after the new pavement is laid down. The majority of the funding was delivered through a $77,000 Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources grant.

Millcreek Township Supervisors approve purchase of police equipment, training Erie Times-News The Millcreek Township Board of Supervisors at recent board meetings approved the purchase of equipment and training for the township s 60-member police force, Township Supervisor Jim Bock said.  Supervisors approved an $8,104 allocation for eight officers to attend the Ohio Tactical Officers Training Conference in June. The board of supervisors also approved the purchase of 15 ballistic body armor vests and helmets for $60,779, and 51 PASGT helmets and 61 face shields for $17,770. Supervisors said the approvals are in keeping with Millcreek Township s further commitment  to providing their officers with the latest training and equipment.

Millcreek Township supervisors consider authorizing hiring of patrol officers

Bock is the liaison to the police department for the Millcreek Township Board of Supervisors.  We just discussed authorizing the chief to start the process for up to probably several new patrol hires, which would likely take place no later than the end of July, Bock said. Preliminary talks are to authorize the chief to kind of begin the process of looking to get several new hires. That s off of the (Mercyhurst University Northwest Pennsylvania Regional Police Testing Consortium) list, and we re part of the consortium, Bock said. I believe that list was formulated in August 2020, so it would be in effect for approximately a year.

Millcreek Police have more supervisors than best practices require

Changes may be coming to the Millcreek Police Department. Some supervisory positions in the Millcreek Township Police Department may be eliminated as they come open. That s because the department may be top-heavy in command, according to a new study. Forty-three percent of the department s commissioned officers are in command and supervisory jobs, with one supervisor for every three patrol officers, according to the study, which compared Millcreek staffing to best-practice standards of the International Association of Chiefs of Police. The IACP best-practice standard is one supervisor for every eight patrol officers. “What we’re looking to accomplish here by following best practices is to right-size our command structure in order to put more officers on the street, Millcreek Township Supervisor Jim Bock said in a statement. Bock is the liaison to the police department for the Millcreek Township Board of Supervisors.
