It’s true. It has been a decade since Elder Price (Andrew Rannells) first took to the Broadway stage to joyously sing about getting his own planet as his nerdy companion, Elder Cunningham (Josh Gad), lovingly lied his way to convert after convert in the jungles of Uganda.

Meet OCMC Missionaries Preparing for Deployment Overseas
Josef and Euphrosini Candelario, Elaine Piniat, and Steve and Theophani Sarigianis have a lot in common. Not only are they all preparing for OCMC missionary service, but they are doing so during the COVID-19 pandemic. Missionaries are responsible for raising support partners who make their service abroad possible by lifting them up in prayer and offering financial support. In spite of the challenges during the pandemic, they have been heartened by the response of OCMC supporters as they reach out to their fellow Orthodox Christians to make their missionary service possible.
In December of 2019, the Candelarios were officially approved as OCMC long-term missionaries to Sweden. Josef was finishing up his Master of Theology (ThM) at Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, and Euphrosini was working part-time as a freelance designer. Soon they began planning a visit back home and contacting paris ....

CLEVELAND Ursuline Sr. Dianna Ortiz was teaching Indigenous children as a missionary in Guatemala in 1989 when her ministry was torn apart in the midst of the country’s brutal civil war.
Guatemalan soldiers abducted her from a garden Nov. 2, detaining her for 30 hours. She reported being gang raped and tortured repeatedly until she escaped.
Returning to the United States, Sr. Ortiz became a human rights advocate and peacemaker, starting an organization for torture survivors and becoming a visible presence of nonviolence at vigils and marches in the nation’s capital. ....

Bio
The Rev. Jonah and Elizabeth Burakowski serve the Lord as career missionaries through The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) in the Latin America and the Caribbean region, based in the Dominican Republic. As associate regional director, Jonah works closely with the regional director to develop and implement strategic plans for 22 countries in South and Central America, the Caribbean and Spain. He also supports the development of the region’s missionary team and serves as a theological educator and missionary pastor.
Jonah was born in Southfield, Mich. His home congregation is Divine Savior Lutheran Church, Hartford, Wis. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Family Science and Human Sexuality from Central Michigan University, Mount Pleasant, Mich.; a master’s degree in Counseling and Higher Education Administration from Emporia State University, Emporia ....
