WESTERLY, R.I. (AP) Officials in Westerly are looking into making the serving of beer while at the beach permanent.
The town last summer allowed restaurants and bars to serve beer along the beach in Misquamicut as a way to help them make money amid shutdowns and restrictions imposed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
At a town council meeting this week, Town Manager Mark Rooney and police Chief Shawn Lacey were authorized to move ahead with plans to make the policy permanent, The Sun of Westerly reported. ....

MIDDLETOWN, CT A Xavier High School graduate was recently reunited with his class ring after losing at a beach 39 years ago, according to WTNH News 8.
WTNH reports Dan Hoey, of Old Saybrook, was a junior at Xavier High School in Middletown when he lost the ring one summer day at Misquamicut Beach in Rhode Island.
The days and years went by until Hoey got a call from Xavier s Alumni Office two weeks ago with the news that they had his long-lost ring. ....
