From its top-notch speakers and fascinating topics of discussion to studentsâ enthusiastic reception, Hebrew Academy High Schoolâs first-ever Media Literacy Week was a tremendous success. âMedia literacy âis the ability to identify different types of media and understand the messages they re sendingâ, from traditional media, like newspapers and TV, to the media of today, which includes social media, memes, and viral videos,â said Head Librarian Zehava Cohn, who organized the event with librarian Andrea Whaba. âWe graduate students to whom we ve taught the fundamentals of Torah, math, science, history, and languages, but we also teach our students how to navigate the world in which they live. Media literacy is an important â I would say, crucial â aspect of this knowledge acquisition because our students are involved in, interacting with, and will inevitably work in a media-literate world.â ....

The survey was promoted by ABC Education and the Museum of Australian Democracy (MoAD) as part of Media Literacy Week 2020, and it invited young Australians aged 10–17 to answer a series of questions about their news practices and experiences. The survey was developed by 21 school students who attended the News Champions Forum as part of Media Literacy Week in 2019. There were 560 responses to the survey during September to October 2020, with many school students completing it as part of a broader classroom activity. ....
