Astro is turning 25 this year and it is well on its way to fulfilling its ambition of becoming Malaysia s top aggregator of streaming services, a goal that was listed in its quarterly report for the financial year ending 31 January 2022. The broadcasting company recently inked a partnership with Netflix, adding on to the list of streaming platforms under its offerings - Astro Go, Disney+ Hotstar, HBO Go and iQIYI. It also comes shortly after Astro launched its own streaming service sooka earlier this month to offer both paid and free content.

New initiatives all set to boost industry

PETALING JAYA: The marketing communications industry is set to thrive with various initiatives being undertaken to spur its growth.
Media Specialists Association (MSA) is collaborating at several fronts in a bid to put the industry on a higher level.
MSA president Chanchal Chakrabarty (pic) speaking to StarBiz said it is playing an active part in industry initiatives by partnering with authorities and other associations.
For example, he said in the area of single currency for video measurement, MSA as a key stakeholder and user, is working closely with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) (pic below) and other stakeholders to take it to fruition. ....

The Star wins Gold in Putra Brand Awards in media networks category


PETALING JAYA: Consumers have voted for The Star as one of their favourite brands in the prestigious Putra Brand Awards (PBA) 2020.
This is the first time that it has won the Gold award in the Media Networks category since the inception of PBA, a testament of the years of informing and inspiring through compelling and trusted content.
The publication has over the years been winning an award in the media category when the awards were first introduced in 2010. This is the 11th year for the PBA, also known as the “People’s Choice Awards”.
