120,000 tonnes of illegal waste yet no prosecutions

“Of the borehole samples of that waste analysed by the Environment Agency, 86 per cent have been found to contain sufficient chemical contaminants to render them hazardous.

“The EA, without any consultation with local representatives, has clearly become inclined towards just leaving this hazardous waste in situ, capped in a manner which has not been fully disclosed to us.”

Machinex Preferred Bidder to Deliver MRF of the Future

Machinex was selected as Preferred Bidder by Coventry City Council, United Kingdom, on January 14th, to deliver the most advanced Material Recycling Facility of its kind within the UK, and potentially one of the most advanced MRF’s around the world. The system, which will be able to treat up to 175,000 tonnes of mixed dry recyclables a year, will be operational by Summer 2023. The Material Recovery Facility will be operated by Sherbourne Recycling Limited; the wholly-owned Local Authority company being established to manage the facility on behalf of the eight Partner Councils from the surrounding regions.
Councilor Patricia Hetherton, Cabinet Member for City Services, said: ‘’This facility looks set to be really impressive – a real leader in the UK and in the short term it’s going to help us make sure our waste and recycling service is as efficient as it can be. Once again, KMK Metals Recycling Ltd in Tullamore have teamed up with Tullamore’s Bridge Shopping Centre, Harbour Place Shopping Centre in Mullingar and Golden Island Shopping Centre in Athlone to give shoppers the opportunity to recycle old and broken Christmas lights for free.
Any money raised recycling the Christmas lights will be donated to the Midlands Simon Community.
Specially-designed trolleys have been placed in each of the three shopping centres making it simple for members of the public to drop off lights while out shopping. The trolleys will remain in place until the end of January giving people the opportunity to take down their festive decorations and recycle any indoor or outdoor Christmas lights that are no longer working. ....
