UPDATE 1-Italy's Saipem warns on outlook after Mozambique uncertainty

MILAN (Reuters) - Italian energy services group Saipem said on Wednesday it was unable to confirm or update its outlook for the year because of uncertainty surrounding a project in Mozambique.
Earlier this week French energy group Total declared force majeure on its $20 billion liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Mozambique following insurgent attacks.
“Evaluations in close cooperation with the client are under way to preserve the value of the project,” Saipem said in a statement on first-quarter results, which showed a net loss of 120 million euros, better than the loss a year earlier but below a Refinitiv consensus estimate for a loss of 75 million euros. ....

London Stock Exchange income rises, Refinitiv savings on track

LONDON (Reuters) - The London Stock Exchange Group reported a 3.9% rise in income in the first quarter and said savings from integrating its $27 billion acquisition of data and analytics company Refinitiv were on target.

About 40 million pounds ($55.5 million) of savings in combined operating costs from the Refinitiv takeover had been realised and new products had been launched, the group said.
It said it was on track to achieve 25% of the announced 350 million pounds savings target by the end of 2021, in line with previous guidance. ....

This refers to the article ‘Confusion’ (April 25) by Dr Farrukh Saleem. The writer has rightly highlighted the administrative flaws in the policymaking process. The reshuffling of senior officers indicates that the authorities don’t have a clear plan to deal with the matters. Instead of removing the highly trained and experienced officers from their posts, the authorities should have asked them to highlight the problems and obstacles they faced while meeting their targets and goals.
It’s time the leadership adopted reform-oriented approaches.
