Port City Fest early numbers shows a positive impact on businesses

SHREVEPORT, La- There was quite the crowd in the Shreveport-Bossier area during Port City Fest. For businesses working through the pandemic, that is a good thing. Shawn Feaster, co-owner of Retro Downtown Barbecue, agrees that the fest was a boost for his business.
âIt was busier this weekend than usual. It worked out pretty good for us down here,â said Feaster. During Port City Fest, some local businesses benefitted big time. At the Jump Off, located near Independence Stadium, Saturday was a big day for them.
âOur projection goal was met at 1 pm. Unlike any other day, the projection goals will be made at the end of the night,â said the owner at The Jump Off. ....

Phase 3 reopening brings hope for local tourism

SHREVEPORT, La Phase 3 of reopening from the COVID-19 pandemic means most businesses and events can increase capacity to 50 percent. It s a boost for local tourism after the lost year of 2020, with festival season on the way.
This opens us up to new events that haven t been able to happen to this point, said Stacy Brown, President of the Shreveport-Bossier Convention & Tourist Bureau. It also allows us to increase attendance to some of those already planned.
