The short three-day lockdown in Auckland had a marked impact on the job market after an otherwise strong start to 2021.
A newly released report by employment site Seek revealed a dip in advertised jobs in Auckland in February.
Seek spokeswoman Janet Faulding said the 2 per cent drop after a strong January was most likely a dip in confidence after the short and sharp lockdown.
February s Covid-19 community outbreak in Auckland and the resulting move into Alert Level 3 in the region pressed pause on some employers hiring intentions, but overall, the road to recovery remains strong, Faulding said. ....

Midwives' Union Challenging DHBs Excluding GPs As "Comparator" In Pay Equity Claim

Wednesday, 10 March 2021, 12:07 pm
MERAS has this week filed in the Employment Relations
Authority (ERA) over the DHBs’ decision to unilaterally
exclude general practitioners as a potential comparator in
the process to resolve the union’s pay equity
claim.
MERAS Co-leader (Industrial) Jill Ovens, says
they believe the DHBs’ action of unilaterally vetoing
which occupations can be considered as potential comparators
has breached the Terms of Reference agreed with the
DHBs.
“The Terms of Reference agreed on March 18,
2019, quite clearly state that where there was disagreement,
mediation and negotiation would take place. With regards to
considering GPs as comparators, this has not happened. We ....

Thursday, 11 March 2021, 10:07 am
Yesterday,
the government finally released a four part timetable
setting out which groups will get vaccinated with the
Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine and in what sequence …And yes, it
did look very much like the four part plan that Australia
announced in January. Since yesterday there has been
quibbling about which social groups should be prioritised,
and what the logistical problems will be in delivering the
necessary two doses of the Pfizer vaccine, given that it
needs to be stored in super cold conditions, and with a
three week interval between the shots.
Fine, but
there’s a weird time lag involved here. Like most of the ....
