Good News: Greenscape of Jacksonville plants trees at Cuba Hunter Park


Greenscape of Jacksonville launched its effort to plant 15 trees in Cuba Hunter Park on the city s Southside on Saturday. 
The project will be continued with volunteers, but the weekend planting was accomplished with the group s board of directors taking on the task. Its members were ready to get their hands a little dirty and set an example for other tree-planting volunteers, said
Anna Dooley, executive director of the nonprofit.
The 10,000-square-foot skate park is perhaps the best-known feature of the park on Emerson Street at Bedford Road. Other amenities include two playscapes, an athletic field, gymnasium and community meeting area, and a boardwalk winding through 3½ acres of wetlands and picnic tables.   ....

Andrew Adams (he/him) is a 20-year-old transgender activist and currently attends the University of Central Florida in Orlando. While attending high school in St. Johns County, he made a name for himself fighting his school district’s transphobic bathroom policy. Represented by Lambda Legal, he sued the St. Johns County School Board. After the first full trial of its kind in a federal court, he won his case in an unprecedented victory for transgender students everywhere. Andrew is also a writer, speaker and community activist.
