Tuesday s Rochester School Board meeting was a very different affair than the raucous one held two weeks ago that featured a heckling crowd of conservative activists denouncing masks and critical race theory.
Tuesday s meeting was an opportunity for many in the public to respond to and reject the messages and angry tone expressed at the July 13 meeting. When Rochester School Board chairwoman Jean Marvin took a peek from the Edison Building before the meeting, the line of people formed outside was the biggest she had seen in decades of attending meetings. ....

At John Lewis vigil, Missouri leader warns against voter suppression

At a Springfield vigil pushing federal voting rights legislation and honoring civil rights icon John Lewis, Missouri state House Minority Leader Crystal Quade warned that Missouri Republicans could restrict voting rights in the Show-Me state if Congress doesn’t act.  
“For the past five years that I ve been in Jefferson City, legislators continue to tell us that voters don t know what they re talking about and so then what we see every year is legislation moving through the process to restrict access to voting. We have to stop it,” the Springfield Democrat told several dozen rallygoers at the First Unitarian Universalist Church on Saturday. ....
