Covid-19: More efforts needed to convince elderly to register for vaccination, says Rina Harun


PUTRAJAYA: More work needs to be done to get the elderly to sign up for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, says Datuk Seri Rina Harun.
The Women, Family and Community Development Minister said hesitancy and a lack of awareness were among the reasons why registration for vaccination among seniors was lacking.
Many old folks are not sure of the registration process. They need help with registering.
There are also many who are sceptical about vaccinations and prefer to wait and see .
They need to know that the vaccination programme is for the good of the people, she said at a press conference after launching the Konvensyen NGO 2021 programme on Thursday (April 1). ....

Brasilia, Apr 1 (Prensa Latina) The death of elderlies by Covid-19 presently affects income of nearly half of households in Brazil, mainly the poorest, as disclosed by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FIOCRUZ).
Published by the Latin America´s largest scientific research center, Behavior Research (ConVid) was conducted in cooperation with the Federal University of Minas Gerais (southeast) and the State University of Campinas (Sao Paulo).
The study proved that Brazilian households´ income dropped 47.1% from April to May 2020, and a 23.6% stiff earning step-down.
Among those people who are currently working with no formal contract, the households´ decreased income reached 79.8% and the absence of capital in 55.3%. ....

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) announced 510 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 14 confirmed deaths Thursday, April 1. This information is accurate as of March 30.
Today’s report brings the total number of people with confirmed cases since the outbreak began to 465,650 and confirmed deaths remain at 8,087.
Of the 14 deaths reported today, five were middle-aged people (35 to 64) and nine were elderly (65 and older). ....
