COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) has announced 733 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and 38 additional confirmed deaths Wednesday, March 17. This information is accurate as of March 15.
Today’s report brings the total number of people with confirmed cases since the outbreak began to 456,296 and confirmed deaths to 7,890.

DHEC also announced 228 new probable cases of the virus and no new probable deaths. That brings the total of probable cases to 79,804 and the total number of probable deaths to 1,043 in the state since the outbreak began. ....

Currently, there are an estimated 3.5 million people – or 7% of the population – in Malaysia who are above the age of 65. This group is the most vulnerable in terms of maintaining a minimum standard of living until the age of 77 or so, which is the average lifespan for a Malaysian male. This means 65-year-olds live for another 12 to 15 years after retirement.
Even now, does the ageing population have the financial resources needed to maintain a decent standard of living? And are they emotionally stable enough to overcome anxiety and feelings of neglect, loneliness and rejection? Tauranga City Council has confirmed plans to sell its elder housing portfolio, resulting in the possible relocation of 45 elderly tenants.
The council is in formal negotiations with public housing provider Kāinga Ora regarding the potential sale of its nine separate elder housing villages, involving a total of 248 tenants.
However, two of these villages - considered to be at an end-of-life status - are proposed to be sold on the open market, partly due to their high Mount Maunganui real estate value. ....
