IVGID approves rec center bathroom remodel; delays locker room project

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. The Incline Village General Improvement District Board of Trustees voted to move forward with remodeling the upstairs bathrooms at the recreation center, but delayed the locker room remodel project.
The upstairs bathroom project was brought to the board during its April 29 meeting. The board was asked to approve designs that they hadn’t seen. Chairman Tim Callicrate and Trustees Matthew Dent and Sara Schmitz expressed frustration about the process the project had gone through, especially that the board didn’t get to weigh in on the design.
During the Wednesday, May 12 meeting, the project was brought to the board again. One of the main concerns by staff is that the bathrooms are not ADA accessible, and while no one is requiring the district to make the bathrooms accessible, staff felt it was prudent to do so. ....

Nevada Approves Washoe County’s Revised COVID-19 Reopening Plan
The state of Nevada and Gov. Steve Sisolak have approved Washoe County’s latest revision to its reopening plan. Under the plan, which is effective immediately, businesses are able to open at 100% capacity as long as they can provide social distancing.
Groups of up to 10 people can be seated at a restaurant. Events expecting more than 500 attendees can be approved with a safety plan.
Self-serve buffets and adult entertainment are to remain closed until June 1. That’s when all social distancing requirements are expected to be dropped statewide.
On Saturday, the state handed control of COVID-19 mitigation measures to most county jurisdictions, but not Washoe County. That’s because the plan Washoe County Commissioners submitted to the state COVID-19 task force late last week didn’t get approved. It wasn’t endorsed by the health district, school district or City of Reno. ....

IVGID approves legal contract; receives beach access update

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. The Incline Village General Improvement District Board of Trustees moved forward with a contract for legal counsel with Best, Best & Krieger during Wednesday’s meeting.
With the district’s history of being involved with lawsuits and that some residents have questioned the job the previous attorney had done, getting a good contract with BB&K was important for the district.
Josh Nelson with BB&K has been providing legal counsel to the board over the last year on a short-term contract. The new contract extends that for three years.
During the board’s Dec. 9 meeting, the board asked the contract to be reviewed by outside legal counsel. ....

IVGID moves forward with pipeline project

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. The Incline Village General Improvement District Board of Trustees took a big step forward in the effluent pipeline and pond lining project during their Thursday meeting.
The board approved a nearly $370,000 contract with Granite Construction for a construction manager at-risk allowing the district to finally move forward on fixing the aging and failing pipeline.
The contract was approved 4-0. Trustee Kendra Wong was sick and unable to attend the meeting but she told Chair Tim Callicrate that she was also in support of the contract.
The board received the final report of the evaluation of district accounting by Moss, Adams. ....
