(Oregon Coast) – Oregon State Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) is getting back to normal at an ever-quickening rate, and is now looking hopefully towards a more “normal” season at campgrounds on the Oregon coast and elsewhere. Staff rehiring is taking place after many positions were eliminated, and even with a massive revenue shortfall the agency has opened up most state parks and campgrounds, with a few more to go.

However, some small camping fee increases are taking place at several state parks, though not all. ....

Jackson County set to take over Joseph H. Stewart Recreation Area on April 1

SHADY COVE, Ore. Jackson County will take over management of the Joseph H. Stewart Recreation Area at Lost Creek Lake effective by the beginning of April, state officials said on Wednesday.
Oregon Parks and Recreation is transferring the park to Jackson County Parks oversight as of April 1. The county will be charged with maintaining the day-use area, campground, and Lost Creek Reservoir Marina operations over the next two years with the option to renew the agreement for three years beyond that. ....

Jackson Co. looking at taking over management of part of Lost Creek Lake


It’s working on a deal with the state.
This summer, when visiting Lost Creek Lake, you may notice some changes.
“It’s still the same beautiful place it always has been, the uniforms of the people of the ground are going to change,” says State Parks spokesman, Chris Havel.
Oregon Parks and Jackson County are negotiating an agreement to change the management of part of the lake.
“We’re spread a little thin, we have Valley of the Rogue State Park, TouVelle State Park, other parks scattered around the area and frankly those places are pretty busy,” says Havel. ....
