Foundation Set to Unveil Subsided Healthcare for Widows, Pregnant Women, Children


The King Ogunremi Foundation, a non-profit Organisation is set to unveil plans for its commencement of the ‘KOF Medical Centre’ which will provide subsidised healthcare for widows, pregnant women and children.
According to KOF Project Coordinator, Umendu Onyekachi, the idea was born following a recent research carried out by the NGO to assess the conditions of the available basic health facility in Itire community, Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State.
The foundation also conducted an impact assessment of the existing infrastructure and discovered that there is a need for improved health care delivery as provided by the G
government, and essentially with support/partnership from the private sector. ....

Fear grips Lagos community as six kids go missing

At least six children have been declared missing in Idi Araba, Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State, as concerns over the safety of kids in the community grow on a daily basis.
The missing children are identified as Abdullahi Mohammed, Umairah Umar, Abubakar Sadiq, one Shittu, Abdullahi Olanrewaju and Abdulahad Ibrahim, who disappeared on Wednesday, January 27.
City Round learnt that the recurring disappearance suspected to be cases of abduction started about two years ago when four of the children went missing successively.
It was gathered that the children usually disappeared while playing with their mates within the vicinity, thereby throwing their parents into confusion. ....

Burying the dead in residential areas

LAST week, the Lagos State government outlawed the burial of corpses within residential premises across the state. This, it said, was part of the measures enacted to prevent the transmission of communicable diseases. It has also prohibited the use of residential areas as morgues. This was disclosed by the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Law Reform Commission, Ade Adeyemo, who noted that the prohibition had become imperative as the state sought to step up to the 21st century realities of preventing communicable diseases. Adeyemo added that the commission arrived at the measure after careful consideration and review of the laws addressing the immediate and peculiar needs of Lagos residents. She said: “The commission, after review, found it expedient to ensure that the Lagos State Public Health Law was expanded to include present-day disease outbreaks like Ebola, Lassa fever and other communicable diseases.” ....
