The relation between bar and bench at Faisalabad courts has hit a new low as the judges were not ready to compromise on humiliation of one of their colleague at the hands of lawyers.
Reportedly, the lawyers believed the fault was at judge’s side who misconstrued the facts and got registered an FIR against a lawyer who was being stated by the judges as an alleged “assailant”.
Sources claimed that representatives of Punjab Bar Council (PbBC) and other bar councils met thrice with Lahore High Court (LHC)’s Chief Justice (CJ) Muhammad Ameer Bhatti to get resolved the matter but the lawyers could not succeed in convincing the LHC CJ over the misconduct of a PbBC member with the civil judge. ....

ISLAMABAD: The new Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC), Muhammad Ameer Bhatti, will hold the top slot for 32 months unless he is elevated to the Supreme Court before his retirement.
He will be superannuated on March 7, 2024 after attaining the constitutional retirement age for high court judges of 62. If he is elevated to the apex court before his retirement, he will have three additional years.
Following Justice Bhatti’s elevation as the LHC chief justice, Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan has become the puisne judge. He will become the LHC head after the retirement of Justice Bhatti and will serve till March 14, 2025. Justice Shujaat Ali Khan is now at number three of the seniority list of LHC judges. ....

A full court reference was held in honour of the outgoing chief justice.
All the judges working at the principal seat of Lahore, advocate general of Punjab, federal and provincial law officers attended the reference.
Later, at a send off ceremony, Chief Justice-designate Muhammad Ameer Bhatti presented a flower bouquet to Justice Khan.
Justice Bhatti would take oath as chief justice on Tuesday (today) at a ceremony to be held in the Governor House.

LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan on Monday reached superannuation after serving the judiciary for over 11 years.
He was elevated to LHC on Feb 19, 2010. A full court reference was held to pay homage to the outgoing chief justice. All the judges working at the principal seat of Lahore, advocate general of Punjab, federal and provincial law officers attended the reference.
