The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has said that keeping their industrial action too long would be counterproductive.

Sunrise Daily on Friday, said he hopes the Federal Government would not disappoint the union based on the recently signed Memorandum of Action.
He also noted that the union’s decision to call off its three-week strike was reached after considering the plight of the Nigerian students. ....

Relief as Varsity Workers Suspend Industrial Action

The Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), have suspended their three-week-old strike .
The decision to call off the strike followed a Memorandum of Action (MOA) the two unions signed with the federal government at the meeting held last night in Abuja.
Addressing journalists on the outcome of the negotiations, the General Secretary of NASU, Mr. Adeyemi Peters, said that having been satisfied with the agreement reached with the federal government, the unions agreed to suspend the strike with effect from 12 midnight today (today) Adeyemi said that the leadership of the unions had earlier secured the mandate of their organs to suspend the strike once government satisfied their demands. ....

SSANU, NASU suspends strike after three weeks

The Joint Action Committee, JAC, of non-teaching staff unions of universities has announced the suspension of its three weeks old strike with effect from midnight of February 26.
The national leadership of JAC non-teaching staff comprises of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and Non-Academic Staff Union of the Universities (NASU).
The union which conveyed its decision during media briefing it held after the conciliatory meeting with the federal government, explained that it agreed to suspend the national strike after extracting some concessions from the government.
Speaking through NASU General Secretary, Peters Adeyemi, the union said its demands have been harmonized to the satisfaction of both parties, just as he stressed that they will continue to monitor the agreements that have been reached with timeline, to ensure that FG implement its own side of the bargain. ....

(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Lagos State University (LASU) Chapter, on Thursday suspended an indefinite strike over outstanding arrears of minimum wage and other demands.
NASU and SSANU under the aegis of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) had embarked on a nationwide strike on Feb. 5, to compel the Federal Government to address their demands.
The union, NASU and SSANU, LASU chapter, also demanded for payment of their members’ earned allowances and rightful position.
The two unions had shut the university’s main gate and the senate building during the indefinite strike which affected the first semester examination of the institution. ....

Rivers CP disbands E-Crack squad | Tribune Online

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka, on Friday, ordered the dissolution of the Eagle Crack Squad.
The order to dissolve the squad was made Friday morning, according to the Commands Public Relations Officer SP, Nnamdi Omoni, who also stated that the squad had already been disbanded after a meeting with the Management Team.
The dissolution is coming on the heels of complaints of unprofessional conduct exhibited by the personnel of the unit.
Recall that the CP in his Maiden Press Briefing, on Tuesday, promised to address all cases of infractions by the police and increase supervision of the men, with a stern warning to deal with erring officers and hold DPOs/HODs vicariously liable. ....
