New Austria-registered airline will take over operating intra-EU cargo flights from DHL Air UK, which will evolve into more of an intercontinental carrier
DHL Express is restructuring its European air network management in a series of changes that have been prompted by Brexit – which leaves UK-registered cargo airlines such as DHL Air UK unable to operate intra-EU cargo flights from the start of next year.
Under the changes, a new Austria-registered airline will take over operating intra-EU cargo flights from DHL Air UK, which will evolve into more of an intercontinental carrier. DHL Air Austria will take over operating 18 of DHL Air UK’s B757 freighters, with five remaining on the UK register to operate UK domestic and UK-EU flights. ....

The European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) issued an urgent call for national authorities to eliminate administrative barriers for operations between the UK and European Union states, saying this would benefit all involved. Under the framework of the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement, the UK government permitted EU operators to exercise Third and Fourth Freedom rights, allowing flights to and from the UK. However, UK operators are finding that those freedoms are not being reciprocated by a number of EU countries. ....

AKIPRESS.COM - The European Union (EU) has extended its ban on Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for a further three months. On December 26, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) informed PIA that the ban on flights to Europe would only be lifted after a safety audit of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The EU suspended all PIA flights to Europe in July for six months over concerns about PIA pilots, Simple Flying reported.
The news comes a day after Pakistan s Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan said that he hoped that the ban on Pakistan International Airlines flying to Europe would be lifted soon. While speaking to media from his home town of Taxila, Pakistan’s top aviation minister said the Europeans worry about how commercial pilots in Pakistan got their licenses had been addressed.
