Denton County Man Arrested and Charged in Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol Insurrection


Footage from both inside and outside the Capitol showed a man identified as Persick wearing a red “Make America Great Again” baseball cap, according to court documents. He also sports a brown beard, dark jacket and backpack.
In early March, a confidential witness told the FBI that someone had texted them a photo of Persick on the day of the insurrection. In it, a smiling Persick is wearing sunglasses and stands in front of a crowd.
The witness also received a short video that Persick had allegedly recorded from inside the Capitol building. Persick did not record himself in the video but filmed a line of people walking toward the Capitol’s rotunda. ....

Cooke County Couple Arrested for Alleged Involvement in Capitol Insurrection


As police desperately tried to stop an angry mob from storming the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, North Texas’ Mark Middleton pushed back against the barricade, federal authorities say. Decked out in a red, white and blue Trump beanie, Middleton hurled insults at the officers.
“Fuck you!” Middleton screamed, according to court documents. Three-and-a-half months later, he’d be arrested.
Middleton is a GOP precinct chair in Cooke County, around 85 miles north of Dallas. His wife, Jalise, was also with him that day. But now, the Forestburg couple is facing seven charges apiece for their alleged involvement in the Jan. 6 insurrection. ....

Capitol rioter accused of assaulting cops with chemical spray served as Marine, to remain jailed before trial

A federal judge in Texas ruled Friday that a former Marine accused of dousing at least 15 police officers with a chemical spray outside the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 and bragging about it later on video will remain in custody, according to a report.
Daniel Ray Caldwell, 49, of The Colony, Texas, will stay behind bars until his trial in Washington, D.C., The Dallas Morning News reported.
After hearing testimony during several detention hearings in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Magistrate Judge Kimberly Priest Johnson decided no conditions of release would reasonably assure the safety of the community. ....
