Glass ceiling well and truly shattered by âlow-key Jamieâ Jamie Kah after winning the Group 1 Doncaster Mile in April, the first female to do so. Picture: Getty Images Comments
Jamie Kah doesnât seek the limelight and prefers to let her riding do the talking â but she hasnât needed to say much this season to make a whole lot of noise.
This was a historic moment for the sport as the 25-year-old became the first Melbourne jockey to ride a century of city wins in a single season.
Just think about Kahâs feat for a moment. She has achieved something that has eluded some of the greatest jockeys of them all including her peers like Hall of Famer Damien Oliver, Craig Williams, Damian Lane and Mark Zahra, and the champions of yesteryear, Roy Higgins, Scobie Breasley, Ron Hutchinson, Bill Williamson, Bill Duncan and Harry White.

It was a long way from the exhilarating highs of winning five Melbourne Cups, but Hall of Fame trainer Lee Freedman got on the board at Eagle Farm on Wednesday with his second starter since returning from Singapore.
Freedman had to settle for second when his first runner back, Intrepidacious, narrowly missed in the Listed Gai Waterhouse Classic at Ipswich last month.
But his second starter, well-backed three-year-old filly Safeeya, did the business when she won the $35,000 Class Three Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm on Wednesday.

Joseph O Brien will attempt to win Tuesday s Listed Lenebane Stakes at Ireland s Rosscommon Racecourse with yet another horse owned by Australian interests.
O Brien has won the past two editions of the Lenebane with the OTI Racing-owned Downdraft in 2019 and the Lloyd Williams-owned Pondus, who defeated OTI s Jessica Harrington-trained mare Camphor last year.
O Brien and Williams, who have combined to win two Melbourne Cups, have representation again in the Lenebane on Tuesday with the aggressively placed Point Nepean.
Point Nepean has only raced once, winning his debut in a €12,000 (A$19,000) three-year-old maiden over 2615 metres at Navan on May 30 when confidently supported in betting to overturn odds-on favourite Malawi.
