MELBOURNE
.- Australia’s national museum of screen culture and Melbourne Art Foundation, the non-profit organisation and owner of the biennial Melbourne Art Fair, announced Kaylene Whiskey as the recipient of the Melbourne Art Foundation 2022 Commission, supported by Artwork Transport and Panasonic.
Set to be unveiled at the Melbourne Art Fair in February 2022 before moving to its permanent home in the ACMI collection, Whiskey’s new video work will be the ninth commission of the 15-year program.
It marks several firsts: the first time the Melbourne Art Foundation Commission program has partnered with ACMI, the first time the Commission has awarded a First Nations artist, and the first time it has supported the production of a moving image work. ....

Set to be Australia’s largest public gallery outside of a capital city, Gold Coast’s Home of The Arts (HOTA), opens in early May. The $60.5 million project designed by Melbourne-based architects ARM, will see the contemporary cultural precinct become home to the $32 million City Collection which consists of more than 4,400 artworks, including one of the largest collections of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art in regional Australia.

.-Melbourne Art Foundation today announced it is a recipient of the Australian Government’s COVID-19 Arts Sustainability Fund, which is designed to assist systemically significant Australian arts organisations that face a risk to their sustainability due to the impact of COVID-19.
The Australian Government has recognised the Melbourne Art Foundation, alongside The National Institute of Dramatic Art, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the Museum of Contemporary Art, as a leading arts organisation with good prospects of maintaining its viability. ....
