McGonagle Breaks with Haverhill Administration on Cannabis Impact Fees, Backs Stem

One Haverhill city councilor publicly broke with the city administration’s stance on cannabis “impact fees” last week and accepted a ceremonial check in non-disputed payments from a downtown retailer.
Standing in front of City Hall Thursday, City Councilor Michael S. McGonagle accepted a ceremonial check for $365,796 from Stem Haverhill owner Caroline Pineau. The amount represents local option tax payments to the city during Stem’s first year of operation. McGonagle explained to WHAV why he is endorsing the local retailer. ....

Gene Barge is unusual among Secret History subjects in that the general public especially outside Chicago might recognize him as a movie actor before they d remember his music. Barge turned to music full-time relatively late in life, and not till a couple years after he d had his biggest hits in the late 50s and early 60s. Future Marijuana Retailer Mellow Fellows Could Earn $1 Million Monthly, Attracting Investment

When Haverhill-based Mellow Fellows opens its adult-use marijuana store late this summer, it could earn more than $1 million a month.
According to the company’s lawyer, this potential has attracted two more investors. Attorney Jim Smith told WHAV that Mellow Fellows, owned by Charles Emery, Timothy Riley and E. Phillip Brown, will receive investments from two more businesses. A principal of one of them, Arthur Becker, became the store’s landlord Friday. Smith said negotiations with a second unnamed investor are still in the works. ....
