Dhaka, Apr 26 (UNI) Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday sought the developed world and the development partners’ enhanced role in attaining quick recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic as she placed a four-point proposal at the 77th Session of the UN-ESCAP, according to a PMO release.
While delivering her recorded statement aired in the 77th annual UN-ESCAP session, the premier simultaneously called for inclusive development approach, efficient policies and strategies on universal public health system from the Asia-Pacific region.
The three-day 77th session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) began virtually today under the theme - “Building back better from crises through regional cooperation in Asia and the Pacific.” ....

Ronnie Screwvala pioneered cable television in India in the 1980s and then built a unicorn that was acquired by Walt Disney Co. At 64, the entrepreneur s latest venture UpGrad is speeding toward a landmark $1 billion valuation. The higher education and upskilling startup raised $120 million from Singapore-based investor Temasek Holdings Pte, according to its co-founder. That s the first time UpGrad which had been funded entirely by Screwvala and its founding team since it was established in 2015 is getting an external investor.
We are not quite a unicorn, but we ll get there soon, the entrepreneur said in an interview via Zoom video call. ....

Screwvala declined to comment on the details during an interaction with ET. “We are not a unicorn yet. But we are not too far behind,” he said.
Screwvala, who founded UTV Motion Pictures in the 1990s which was later acquired by Walt Disney Company, has so far ploughed about $25 million of his own capital in upGrad since it was founded.
Apart from Screwvala, upGrad’s founding team includes Mayank Kumar and Phalgun Kompalli.
The online education segment, both K-12 and higher education, has seen a large rush of risk capital following the Covid-19 epidemic. ....
