Rawalpindi : The Metropolitan Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR) and Town Municipal Administrations (TMAs) are facing difficulties in all money related matters as banks refused to cash their cheques without house permission.
This situation ran fear of stoppage of salaries among the MCR staff before Eidul Azha.
The LHC (Rawalpindi Bench) had given stay orders on all matters and directed Punjab Chief Secretary, Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Deputy Commissioner and MCR chief officer to appear in person in the court on July 14, 2021.
The Mayor Rawalpindi Sardar Naseem Khan said that all activities after March 25 were illegal and unconstitutional, as the Supreme Court had ordered to restore local body system on March 25. RAWALPINDI: Terming the action of Mayor Sardar Naseem Khan and union council chairmen to break into the Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC) offices unlawful, the civic body officials have made a complaint to the commissioner who is also city administrator to take legal action against them.
On the other hand, Rawalpindi Mayor Sardar Naseem Khan said that he and union council chairmen had not done anything illegal and just opened his offices following the Supreme Court verdict given on March 25.
On July 8, Rawalpindi Mayor and Union council chairmen from both treasury and opposition went to RMC offices to get the charge of their offices after the announcement of detailed judgment of Supreme Court in which it restored the local government and asked the elected representatives to start work. ....

Rawalpindi : While blaming the Punjab government for committing contempt of the court, the elected local bodies representatives headed by Mayor Sardar Naseem Khan Thursday broke the locks of the Metropolitan Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR) office and took over the charge with force.
The sitting government of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) dissolved local governments in the federal capital, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in February this year and despite a detailed judgment on the restoration of local government in Punjab by the Supreme Court two days back, no step has been taken to restore it.
The situation at MCR turned ugly when Mayor Sardar Naseem Khan along with elected representatives of the local body from the treasury and opposition benches reached the office of MCR to take over the charge. However, they were denied entry by the staff of MCR that cited receiving no orders whatsoever from the Punjab government regarding restoration of local government. ....
