Rawalpindi : The Metropolitan Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR) and Town Municipal Administrations (TMAs) are facing difficulties in all money related matters as banks refused to cash their cheques without house permission.
This situation ran fear of stoppage of salaries among the MCR staff before Eidul Azha.
The LHC (Rawalpindi Bench) had given stay orders on all matters and directed Punjab Chief Secretary, Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Deputy Commissioner and MCR chief officer to appear in person in the court on July 14, 2021.
The Mayor Rawalpindi Sardar Naseem Khan said that all activities after March 25 were illegal and unconstitutional, as the Supreme Court had ordered to restore local body system on March 25. RAWALPINDI: Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi Bench, primarily granted an ad-interim relief to the effect of restraining Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) from carrying out any construction work whatsoever on Dadhocha Dam.
The FWO through Barrister Husnain Ali Chaudhry filed an application for the vacation of the stay order and it pleaded that the petition was not maintainable and the entire saga revolved around factual controversy which could not be undertaken by the court in its constitutional jurisdiction.
Moreover, it was pleaded that Rawalpindi and Islamabad were facing water shortage and hence on account of national emergency, it was necessary to resolve the matter in question at the earliest.The high court after hearing the arguments lifted the injunction on the construction of dam to allow the FWO to complete the construction work of the dam in the national interest. ....

FBR claims detecting Rs4.27bn tax evasion - Newspaper

ISLAMABAD: The Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation (Lahore) of the Federal Board of Revenue has unearthed sales tax evasion of Rs4.27 billion including default surcharge.
According to the assessment order released on Monday, the directorate has also imposed 100 per cent penalty for tax fraud on the registered person M/s Innovative Biscuits (Pvt) Limited.
An official announcement said the directorate carried out action against the taxpayer on receipt of credible information related to sales tax fraud under Section 38 read with Section 40 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990.
Accordingly, an accused Sheikh Munir Hussain one of the Directors of M/s Innovative Biscuits (Pvt.) Limited was arrested. Meanwhile, the Special Judge also rejected two bail applications of the accused. ....
